NORTH SEYMOUR North Seymour
Playa Mosquera
is a little deep sand and rocks bank - in its anchoring zone. It is a warm water beach, with a big sea lions colony, located between South Seymour and North Seymour. It is an excellent place to observe cliffs and their different material layers from there. These demonstrate that both of the Seymours were marine elevations. Landing is only possible during high tides.Baltra Island

: Is a big island of 0,13 Km2 and 23 meters high over the sea level, which is separated from Santa Cruz Island by a narrow canal elevated from deep the ocean by tectonics strengths. It has a beautiful cliff, where there is a great separated tale seagull colony, and others. Its main attraction is the terrestrial iguanas, unique specie, which is crossed with the marine one. It is refuge of one of the biggest colonies of sea lions.Its unique vegetation forms a reddish carpet over the ground, while the other side of the same island, has a greened gray color. The bushes give protection and food to the birds and terrestrial iguanas.
Click here to backMainly here, you can observe marine turtles copulating at the end of November and May, and during the whole year, the ones which decide not to migrate. White sharks are commonly seen; frigates, pelicans, blue-footed boobies get their food generally in this place. Bullfinches, lava garzas nest in the mangles. There are three of the four types of mangles represented in the Island, which form real woods, with multiple entrances and exits. Inside of it, noises are forbidden (people transport rowing).
Bachas
is a white sand beach, with small lakes at its back and small lake birds like flamingos. It is a marine turtles and marine iguanas nesting zone. It is a warm water beach where you can go swimming. It is located at the Northwest part of the Santa Cruz Island.Terrestrial Turtles reserve Zone:
It is at the Northwest of Puerto Ayora. You have to take a bus to go to Santa Rosa town, and then walk by a way between two farms for about an hour, till get to the Park. There are two roads then: One goes to Cerro del Choto, and the other goes to Caseta. Around these places, you can find a variety of terrestrial turtles of Santa Cruz Island in their natural state. The vegetation is dens, the way might be groundy or not. Without a guide, you could get lost. The time needed to visit the place is about one day.Gemelos
are two elevations of a geological chain that are located next to each other and separated by a main road on Santa Cruz Island. They offer refreshing weather with exuberating, green vegetation where unique species of vegetables and birds can be found. You will be able to see giant plant, the Escalecia Zone, the parasite and epiphyte plants, and some more. Talking about the birds, it is a good place to see witch birds, artisan and singer bullfinches, owls, Galapagos Martins, canary's o marías, flycatchers, etc. In general, you will have the opportunity to see -at the colonized zones-, the field activities, their products, their life style, and the costumes of the insular people."Charles Darwin" Research Station
is next to Puerto Ayora, in Santa Cruz Island, in a zone that is of the special use of the Galapagos National Park, next to the National Park's Administration office, which works together developing conservation programs for the indigene and endemic species of the Archipelago. In this place you can easily appreciate the job of some Programs, like the Interpretation program -at the Touristic Reception Center-, the Nursing of terrestrial turtles, as well as the terrestrial iguanas, the Investigation Programs of these, etc.These species are found in big seminatural corrals -protected and easy to see -, divided in four parts: eggs, newborns, youth and adults.
This is an excellent place to go to see various bullfinches' species around it, as well as the varied xerofitica vegetation. Then you visit Puerto Ayora, which is a amusing center for the tourists, with several types of artisans and with positive characteristics of their people to the visitors.Turtle Bay
is at the South West of Puerto Ayora. You can either take a boat to go there or go walking. This is one of the most beautiful beaches, with two beautiful beaches; one is really calm, and the other is really brave and dangerous if you don't have a guide. The beaches have thin sand and you will be able to enjoy going for a walk among the cactus woods and palosantos, with cucuves and chaffinches.
