The lagoon this surrounded by the hills PEREQUETE CHICO, PEREQUETE GRANDE, CIMALON, that are those that feeds the lagoon with small slopes of water. All the excursion is make very slow in 8 hours, stoping on each of the above named hills and at the border of the lagoon, therefore this place is very promising specially to see birds -600 species in all the route, and several species of flora. V - EXCURSION TO THE MANGROVES ZONETo half of hour by car from the reserve's headquarters, and passing through a shrimp fisher is the wharf where a boat is taken to enter to the mangroves zone, which is a 35000 hectares zone, including the 6000 of the shrimp fishers. There are 5 different kind of magrove in the zone, and an infinity of organic species live tied to the roots of them. This reserve is the last one left in the SouthAmerican Continent, and it also is an important humid forest zone for 50 species of migratory birds protected internationally. There are also resident bird species like frigates, flamingos, herons, pelicanos, etc. The time of visit can vary between 3 and 5 hours, being the best time of route in low tide.
CLIMATE Although our country this on the equatorial line and in the tropical center, we do not have a tropical climate, but a subtropical climate which had mainly to the influence of the current of Humbolt and to the mountain range of the Andes. So, our climate is divided in dry and rainy seasons, the drought goes from December to May and the rainy from May to December. The temperature in our country varies from 0ºC to 38ºC to the outside. In the specific reserve's case, in the dry season we have a pleasant weather, just a bit hotter than in Guayaquil -because the forest has its own micro climate. In the rain season the atmosphere is more humid the temperature increases. In both cases, hot is tolerable. |
